The Newly Renovated Kids Kottage Kitchen!
“…there’s a large kitchen, a warm stove, a simmering pot …” -Barbara Costikya
The safety and well-being of the children who stay at Kids Kottage is of paramount importance to those of us who work there. Our kitchen became shabby and worn ( it was, after all, 17 years old) making it abundantly clear that Kids Kottage Foundation had no option other than to completely renovate this most important room.
The chipped cupboards, broken countertops, lifting lino, and aged and failing appliances for which we could no longer find replacement parts were removed and replaced. A complete renovation was done by Artiste Renovations
The end result is nothing short of spectacular. More cupboard space than we had before, new countertops, a stove and microwaves that work and a prep sink we didn’t have previously. The final touch is the new lino sitting atop a new subfloor
Such a renovation was a huge undertaking for our charity because we needed to care for children throughout the period of renovation. Of course, the biggest challenge was the cost. Though we received many generous donations from many individuals, churches, and companies, still our kitchen could never have become reality, except for four very special corporations who joined CIBC to make up the shortfall in funds.
Staff members proved their flexibility and adaptability by finding many ways to care and comfort children throughout the renovation. Children were nurtured and fed in spite of all the activity in our kitchen and dining room
Kids Kottage is grateful for each and every donation we received. Thank you for hearing our need and taking action to provide a new kitchen for the children who stay at Kids Kottage
Blessings on all those who helped!
