Follow-up Support for Parents
We make sure that you go home with support.
Once the crisis or potential crisis has past, there is opportunity to work with the Follow-up Worker through home visits, office visits or visits within the community.. Together, you and our worker will identify the deeper issues that can contribute to ongoing or new crises. In between visits, the Follow-up worker is available by telephone.
Each family is encouraged to participate in the Kids Kottage social networking and/or learning groups. With the support of staff and volunteers families are able to take advantage of community happenings and to learn and share information and strategies to raise safe, healthy, and happy children.
ASQ-3 and ASQ-2 SE Questionnaires:
A child's first five years of development are crucial to future success. Kids Kottage Foundation wants to help provide the best start possible and offer any appropriate resources if needed. This screening process provides a quick check of your child's development. Information gathered will help parents identify strengths and uncover any areas of child development that the Kids Kottage Foundation can support.
This screening tool is implemented within the Crisis Nursery Program for all families who access the Kids Kottage Foundation. Once the questionnaire is completed, caregivers and children can do activities together will be emailed directly to the caregiver to help build a strong foundation in the early years. There are two questionnaires; the ASQ-3 and ASQ: SE-2
The ASQ-3 asks questions about communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem-solving and personal social skills.
The ASQ: SE-2 looks at social and emotional development. It asks questions about behaviours regarding their ability to calm down, take direction, follow the rules, communicate, perform daily self-care activities, act independently, demonstrate feelings, and interact with others.
ASQ-3 and ASQ SE-2 can also support the advocacy of getting a child assessed for behaviours that require support.
